Too busy...

As my friend said in a post on her blog a couple months ago..."Too busy living life to blog about it." Aside from doing all things summer, we also had a family reunion at the end of June and then we all came h0me sick with strep, croup, colds, and who knows what else. We are just now starting to get better so I promise there will be many blogs to come. I still have to go back to Kylie's 1st birthday. Stay tuned...

Being a Man

Lately, Gavin has taken to declaring he is a man. I'm not sure what brought this on or why he doesn't just say he's a big boy. But no...He is a MAN. and it's so funny how he says it too. He gets the big smile on his face and says " I am your MAN." I asked him the other day if he was my buddy while we were roughousing. He said, "No mommy. I not your buddy, I am your MAN." Whenever Landan and Gavin play together they play some sort of superhero/kung foo/avatar (the cartoon one) game. Landan is usually the main fighter and Gavin is a MAN. I can't wait to find out what happens when he turns 18. Will that make him a little boy?

Happy Birthday Gavin

Gavin turned 3 on May 4th. He is such a joy. He's always happy. I love that about him. He is so curious and adventerous as well. He loves to cuddle which is probably my favorite thing about him. He's also my trouble maker. He likes to terrorize his older brother and thinks Kylie is some elaborate toy to drag around. Everything is a game to him which can be fun sometimes and frustrating sometimes. Most of the time, he just makes us laugh. We love you Gavin!!

We started out the day with Gavin blowing out candles on his breakfast pancakes.

After dinner we had cake...

Landan picked this sword and shield out himself. Now they can kill each other equally because they both have a sword.

Texas Bluebonnets

My friend and current babysitter took pictures of our family in the bluebonnets at the beginning of April. They turned out great. She is so patient with the kids. Thanks so much Anna!

Playscape

As I said in an earlier post, we tore down the old playscape and rebuilt it so it would be sturdier. We only had a couple hours each Sat. to work on it so it took 4 weekends and it's finally finished. Here is our progress. The kids love it!

Week 1: Hauling the wood back to the backyard and putting down the weed fabric. We double did the weed fabric just to make sure. My handy little helpers.

Week 2: Kevin built part of the tower by himself. He couldn't do much because he had all the kids by himself because I was working that weekend.

Week 3: Building the tower and attaching the swing beam.

Week 4: Finishing the tower, building and attaching the climbing wall, attaching the slide, and putting in a baby swing for Kylie.

Finally, attach a rope ladder onto the back and put up the tarps. Finally, something for the kids to do outside. Thanks Daddy!!

P.S. Yes, the tower is leaning a little. Our yard slopes really bad and we tried to level the area but it just didn't work. We will be putting gravel in the play area as soon as Kevin can get it from a guy at work.

Happy Easter

First we went to a community park for an Easter egg hunt. It was basically throwing candy and eggs around (which all split and spilled their candy) and TONS of kids but the kids still enjoyed it. I forgot my camera though

Then we had an easter egg hunt at home. The kids did great and of course they loved it.
