We got him in the pool.

If you have read my sister's blog about the pool party about a week ago, you would know that my son had a sudden deep fear of water. He refused to get anywhere near the water. Kind of rare for him. If you haven't read it yet, click here for the story. Well, today we got him in the pool. It took a lot of coaxing, but he finally got in. By the end of the time he was jumping in the water from the side of the pool. Maybe it was the fact that there were fewer people in the pool or something but he finally got in and was having tons of fun. He even got a small swimming lesson in. It was great! Here are some pictures of his slow progression into the water.

Where's the Beef?

Funny thing happened yesterday. We decided to have a cookout at Eppie and Papa's house last night. There were about 13 of us including all adults and chillins'. While we were at it we decided to go all out so we had sauteed onions, bacon, tomatoes, swiss cheese, mushrooms, the works to go on these burgers. So we're sitting there enjoying our burgers and chips and having nice conversation when suddenly, Papa jumps up and goes, "No wonder!" We're all sitting there wondering too. He goes in the house and comes back out with a hamburger pattie. He had gotten through 3/4 of his burger which is loaded to the hilt with everything on it, and had forgotten to put a hamburger pattie on it. His comment, "I thought it tasted funny and was feeling kind of soft." We got a real hoot out of that one. Here's a picture of the burger after he put the pattie on it. Please note the lack of bun around the pattie.

An Update

Okay, life has been nothing but moving since Kevin got home. We're leaving on our cruise tomorrow and we have a new memory card in our camera so I don't have any piuctures but I'll give you a quick update so everyone knows what's going on.

1. After Kevin got home He spent three whole days packing while I spent the same three nights working. Then we spent a day and a half packing the final touches. We then loaded up the truck last Fri. and on Sat. morning we left for Austin.

2. We ended up spending three days to get to Austin insted of two. Kevin wasn't so comfortable in that big ol' truck and I've never driven that far by myself so we kept getting tired. We finally got to Austin on Mon. and unloaded the truck. We then spent the next 3 days unpacking and rearanging our small apartment. we went from a 3 bedroom to a two bedroom with no storage space so we had to take some stuff from out apartment back down the stairs to the storage unit we are renting.
3. We then came to Eppie and Pappa's house on Thurs. where I have had a complete makeover for the cruise. I had my toes done and I had a manicure. I finally have fingernails! I can't have fake nails where i work because of the preemies but since I'm between jobs I couldn't help myself. They're very nice. My hair is also more red than it was before. Here are some pictures.

So that's where we are now. We are in Houston until the end of the month. We are SO excited to go on our cruise. Of course I'm going to miss my baby, but he's in good hands. It's so convenient having them so close to a port. We're glad we got the opportunity before we had too many kids. So there won't be any more updates for at least a week but I'll try to put at least some pictures on after the cruise.

Kevin's coming home!...Finally.

Kevin spent the week in Austin. He did a sort of orientation with his new job and now he's coming home to help move his family. It has been a long week, let me tell you. Landan is getting increasingly unmanagable. At first I thought it was his surgery because that's when it got really bad. But he's really been driving me nuts since Kevin left. Not only does he argue with everything I tell him to do, he doesn't eat anymore. It's his ultimate weapon, eating. I think I figured out why. Landan's not a big one for change. He really rebels when his routine is thrown off. So we had all this family here for Graduation and then his daddy leaves and his mommy is putting all the stuff in the house in boxes. Then he has this surgery which he doesnt' understand. And his daddy still isn't here. What else is a boy to do than to make his mom's life a living h_ _ _. I'm really hoping that things change as soon as daddy gets home tonight. But then daddy still has to finish putting the house in boxes. Then he has to move to a new house and then he gets dumped on his Eppie and Papa's doorstep while his parents go off on a vacation alone. Poor little kid. LIfe is so hard to understand sometimes. But if he keeps up like he has this week I may just leave him at Eppie and Papa's for the summer.

Tulip Festival

After graduation we had the chance to go to the last day of the Tulip Festival at the gardens at Thanksgiving Point. They are always really beautiful and at this time they are filled with all kinds of tulips. Kevin and I went for a little while and then we had a date planned to go to the musical Les Miserable. It was a great day. Landan got a little hot and tired so he wasn't as excited about the pictures, but he liked the flowers and the big fields of grass.

Graduation...times 3.

Congratulations Graduates!! As most of you know, graduation was last weekend. Kevin, Mike, and Cassie all graduated on the same day. We are all very proud and excited for everyone. Each of the graduates had family in town so it was difficult to get everyone together be we did see everyone, including Papa 2 (my grandfather). Here are some pictures.

Landan's surgery

Landan had his surgery this morning. We had to be at the hospital at 6:30 in the morning. They took his adenoids out and put ear tubes in. He was such a trooper. His only worry was that they would hurt his ears. Since he's had so many ear infections lately he HATES having his ears looked at. He's terrified of it. He was wearing a size 4T zip-up sweatshirt and he insisted the hood had to be down over his head to cover his ears. Every new person we met he had to tell them in a teary voice not to hurt his ears. It was very sad. When we put him in his hospital PJs they gave him a warm blanket to comfort him. He promply made me cover his head and his ears with it until they took him away.

He didn't cry when they took him away though. He didn't want to get in the bed so they just carried him. They said he did great. He's been pretty cranky and irritable since but he has a right to be. I"m sure he'll be fine by tomorrow. I"m including one more picture, just because he's so cute.
