Landan's Song

Landan decided that he wanted to play the piano. I went to get some books and he said he wanted the blue one. It's difficult to tell from the picture but the blue book is the Primary Children's songbook. The phone rang and while I was talking I heard this...

It thought it was so cute. Now he just needs to learn the rest of the song.

Landan and Daddy

Landan has been so funny these last few days. He's really getting to be just like his Daddy. Everyone has said that he looked like his daddy since he was born. Well, I'm seeing more and more of his daddy in him.

Example #1: Kevin is extremely observant. I've noticed that ever since I met him. Not only does he notice everything, but he remembers it too. The other day I had bought a little Lightening McQueen car for Landan's friend, Quinlan's, birthday party. The only one they had was the Bugs in the Teeth McQueen. Now keep in mind, this is a small matchbox sized car. I figured his little friend wouldn't notice since it was so small. I had to rethink my opinion when Landan looked at it as we were wrapping it and said, "He gots stuff in his teeth. It's bugs in his teeth. Ewww!" I hope his friends isn't as observant.

Example #2: Yesterday I was working the day shift so Landan and Kevin had a day together. They did what they always do when they are alone together. They bond at the only place they feel manly, Lowes. It has now been dubbed "Landan and Daddy's" store. I guess they were there and Kevin looked down and said, "This is our store isn't it?" and Landan said, "Yeah, Landan and Daddy's store." Then Kevin said, "Maybe it can be Landan and Daddy and little brother's store." Landan then said, "Yeah, maybe." I think it's great that they have a special place they can bond and Kevin can teach Landan how to be a manly man.

Example #3: Kevin is passing on all he knows to Landan. It's really cute when he reveals what he's learned. Tonight Landan asked Daddy if he could watch MASH with him. I think it's a ploy to stay awake longer but he likes to do it a lot. It's another bonding thing they share. Landan goes over and picks up the the season they were going to watch and he looks at the cover and says, " It gots Colonel Potter in it." I couldn't believe he recognized who it was and could say it. He remembers everything and will randomly show us what's stored in his brain. it amazes me sometimes.

Milestone!

Today, we hit a major milestone. Landan got to go to Primary for the first time today. (For those of you who don't know, Primary is where the little kids go during Sunday School at church.) I was a little worried because Landan had a MAJOR meltdown during Sacrament meeting, complete with rolling around on the ground tantrum. But I finally got him settled down and he went off to Primary with a smile. He loved it! He was such a good boy. He actually stayed dry the entire time we were at church too. I think it helped that he has a good friend named Quinlan in his class. Quinlan has a much more mild personality compared to Landan which, in my opinion, is why they get along so well.

Landan got a new sweater vest for Christmas and he wore that today. He looked so grown up going off to Primary. I wish I had gotten a picture but I had him changed after church before i thought about it. My baby's getting so big.

Speaking of getting big, I've been meaning to tell everyone about his last well-child checkup. Landan has always been really small for his age. Ever since he was born he was always below the 3rd percentile for weight. It's been a real trip getting him to fit into his clothes. He was still wearing 18 mo. shorts this last summer. He has these skinny little hips and not butt. But this time, he actually made the 10th percentile for weight!!! This was back in Oct. I couldn't believe it! I was so excited. He also finally fits into his proper size clothes as well. He's wearing 3T pants and they fit! He's getting a little belly too. He didn't even have a baby belly.

Like I said...My baby's getting so big.

Ultrasound

After much waiting we finally have the results of our ultrasound. For starters, this baby has all its parts and they are all in the correct places. We counted fingers and toes and everything. The doctor had a pretty good machine so we got some 3-D pictures to go with our regular ultrasound pictures. Everything measures right. The baby is 11 oz. It was a feisty little thing. It kept kicking me when we were poking it. It also kept covering it's face. It apparently wasn't in the mood to be messed with at the time. It's really active during the night and I had worked the night shift right before this. My ultrasound was at 8:00 in the morning right after i worked so my guess is it was just settling down for a long snooze before we started pushing on it.

And here's the news everyone's been waiting for:

Forget the stork story...

Landan has figured out how a baby gets into a Mama's tummy. I didn't even have to prompt him. He figured it out all by himself. We had "the talk" today and it went like this:

Mommy: Be careful. Don't jump on mommy's tummy. You don't want to hurt the baby.

Landan: That's right. Cause you have a baby in your tummy.

Mommy: That's right.

Landan: How did the baby get in there?

Mommy: I don't know.

Landan: You just got hungry and put it in there. That's how it happened.

Mommy: You must be right.

And that's how mommies get babies in their tummys.

Disclaimer: I a little caught off guard when Landan asked me how babies get in mommy's tummy and I didn't know what to say. I'll explain everything with the next baby.
