I love the sun!

We had an absolutely wonderful day last Wednesday. Kevin didn’t have to go to one of his classes. I thought I was supposed to work but when I got there I found out it was the next day. It was a beautiful day and it was the first warm day this year. It actually got kind of hot. We were outside from about 12:30 until it got too dark. We had a picnic dinner sitting on a blanket. Everyone was out in the quad with their kids sitting on blankets and socializing. Well, that is, most of the moms were. Kevin was the only Dad but he spent a lot of time playing with Landan. Landan had so much fun being outside all day. He must have gone down the slide about a hundred times. He’s getting much better at climbing. We were planning on giving Landan some sports stuff for Easter but we decided to open it early since it was so nice out. We got him a little plastic bat and baseball with Velcro on it that sticks to the felt on a little baseball glove. He absolutely loved it. He actually took his baseball and bat to bed with him that night. He spent so much time trying to hit that ball. He’s actually not too bad at it. We still can’t tell if he’s going to be right or left handed though. He throws better with his left hand but he bats right handed and he kicks left footed. He can’t seem to decide yet. Time will tell. We also played a little football with him. It was so great having all three of us able to spend all day together. It doesn’t happen often. I know Kevin and I got tons of exercise running around trying to keep up with Landan. And I know he loved having both parents home, playing all day. He sure likes to be outside, just like his daddy

PS. Landan found a new girlfriend. Her name is Ada and she and Landan are the kids with the snottiest noses in nursery.

Rocks.

Mike and Ashlyn told me an interesting story today. Kevin's been really sick with some kind of nasty flu so Ashlyn picked Landan up from daycare today. When they got to their house he informed them that he had something hard in his diaper. Judging from the title of this entry, you can guess what was in his pants. Rocks. Handfuls of rocks. Apparently, we aren't giving him enough rocks at home so he has to hoard them at daycare during recess. What horrible parents we are.

Uncle David

I finally have a picture of Landan with Uncle David. It's funny. Out of all of his relatives, Landan has bonded with David faster than anyone, even the ones he sees all the time. He took to David the first day he met him. We have a theory that maybe it's because David looks a lot like me. But other than that, we have no idea why he bonded with him. He knows him as well as his other uncles and he's only seen him a few times. Weird, but cool.

Future marksman

We were at Mikie and Ashlyn's house for dinner and this is Landan's favorite toy.

Landan's Uncle Jonny.

I love the fact that even though Landan can't live by any of his grandarents he can still live near some of his extended family. I have two brothers and their wives who live near us and Landan sees them on a regular basis. His Uncle Jonny is interesting sometimes. He likes to teach Landan things... If you know him you'll know my trepidation. Today he taught Landan a new phrase. Landan can now say, "Cassie, you're hot!" and "Cassie is freaking hot." Nice Jonny. By the way, he was using Landan as a ventriloquist at the time.

Look...I"m Jar Jar Binks!!

Is he a guy or what?

And this one is for Grandma Thompson: Landan did something that I have only seen one person do before (or at least done it and looked cute). Landan gave me a one-sided smile. He is his father's son.

An update.

What's up with us?

Marissa- Still working in the NICU. Still somewhat sick but much better. Went to a work Retreat that was really neat. It taught me a lot and it was at a really nice lodge up in the mountains. I almost died getting there in a blizzard, but I am safe and sound now.

Kevin- Got an offer from Maryland but not a very good one. Has an interview in Austin, TX which looks promising. Got a sort of offer from his boss here, not too bad. We'll have to wait to see what Austin says.

Landan- Got his school pictures done this week. Sick again, he has an ear infection. They put him on the same antibiotic as they did in Jan. I hope, hope, HOPE, he doesn't have anymore 24 hr. screaming fits again. We'll have to wait and see. Other than that, doing great!

That's all here!
