New Landscape

Kevin is determined to finish our yard this spring. He spent the weekend finishing the front. Well it's not exactly finished, we still need to plant a few flowers and a couple small trees but it looks really good anyway. I can't wait untill it's all done.

Smarty pants

Wow...so little time, so much to write. I'm hoping to catch everyone up on what's new with my family but it may take some time. We'll start with me. Let's see...nothing new to report. Okay, now that that's done, let's move on to someone more interesting. Gavin!

Gavin is such a smarty pants. I think he said his first word today. I can't be sure unless he reproduces it in the appropriate context again but it certainly sounded real. We were coming home from a therapy session (more on that later) and we got home to Kevin who had come home for lunch. Gavin saw him and threw up his arms and said,

"Da Da"

I looked at him and asked if he said Daddy and he looked at Kevin again and said, "Da Da" . It was so cute. I love this little guy. My favorite thing about him is how happy he is. He is always smiling. It makes me so happy. I love it.

My 9 mo. old

My baby is 9 months old now. He's such a big boy already. We went to the doctor on Wed. His current stats are:

Weight: 16 lbs 2 oz
Length: 26.5 in

Percentiles: Under the 5th for both

So he's still a little guy but he's reached all of his milestones properly. He can pull himself up on things and he does this nonstop. He can take a few steps sideways while holding on before falling. He crawls everywhere. He can say a few syllables but not anything that is repetitive like "mama" or "dada". And he can EAT. This child eats everything. He's recently decided that he is done with baby food, he wants the real thing. I fed him some bread and he practically grabbed it out of my hand. He eats what we eat just cut up really small. And he loves it. He chews it up with his little gums. That's my baby!!

Landanisms

Landan has come up with some good phrases over the last few days. Here are a few examples:

At Target:

"Mommy, you would look so good in those clothes. They make you look so pretty. Cause you're always pretty huh." (The worker who overheard him said I needed to watch out because he was going to be quite the charmer someday. This is not the first time he's charmed the pants off a grown-up. )

In my bedroom tonight:

Landan-"Mommy, I like your pajamas. They are so cute."
Me- "You know what else is cute. You are."
Landan- "I'm not cute. I'm cool."

After dinner tonight:

Landan- "I'm just a normal guy. I don't talk about clothes or girl things."

Is he 4 or 21? Sometimes I wonder.

7 lbs!!

Guess What!! As the title says, I somehow managed to lose 7 lbs. I can fit into my pre-pregnancy pants. They're not exactly skinny pants by any means but they are skinnier than anything I have been wearing lately! I'm so excited.

I guess this is how I do this. You see, my body does the storing of the fat while I'm pregnant like it's supposed to so it can put it in the baby's milk. But it doesn't actually put the fat in my milk. Hence the reason I have skinny babies. So I just carry it around forever until I stop nursing. I haven't completely stopped nursing yet, but Gavin isn't as interested in it so he only nurses about once a day. So when I stop nursing, the pounds magically drop off. (To those of you who are jealous right now, don't be. It's only some of the pounds, the last 10 stick on like glue.) So even though I've still got pregnant fat stuck to me, it does feel good to fit into my old jeans again.

Office Cleanup

Sometimes it seems like I have so many projects and so little time to do them. But I figured out last weekend why that is. I'm one of those people who doesn't like to start projects because as soon as I start them I have to finish them or I get annoyed. I just can't leave them alone until they are completely done. So last weekend I had 4 days off work and we decided to use the time to clean out our office which had become less office and more junk room. Thanks to some generous Christmas presents from my parents and my grandparents (Thank you so much!!!) we were able to purchase some items to organize ourselves easier. We got a storage unit to put in the garage for Kevin's tools. We got some plastic boxes we can put in the garage so we could get stuff out of cardboard boxes and they'd be safe from bugs. And we got some shelves that match my craft table that Kevin stained and put up. WE also rearranged the furniture in that room and it looks great. Here are some before and after pictures.

I love having open space. It's so much nicer and so much more inviting. Now I can get some stuff done in there. I also spent some time using my new carpet cleaner so my living room carpet is SO much cleaner. So nice.
