So Much Fun!

I am having so much fun creating. I don't really consider myself a very creative person but I've got all these ideas flowing and it's fun to see some of them happen. I got a new pattern to make a different shoe from my aunt (Thanks Aunt Sandi) just after I posted the last ones I made. I just finished them and they are so cute! I can't wait to make more.

Landan's Hands

I just wanted to update you all on the status of Landan"s hands. They are fine. They have been fine since the Tues after the accident. As a followup the ER wanted to me to takem him to the wound clinic so they could check how they were healing. I almost didn't go but i thought i might get in trouble with social services or something. You could barely tell he had been burned. They asked if I was sure it was Landan. They took a picture of his hands anyway to prove he was ok and sent him home.
I think he got really lucky. The paperclip he stuck in the outlet was coated in plastic and i think it prevented anything worse from happening. Everything is back to normal.

My Poor Babies!

Whoever said Sunday's were restful doesn't live at my house. Today was definately not restful. It started like any other Sunday: alarm didn't go off, I jump out of bed, realize we are late, yell at Kevin to get up and then rush around to get everyone fed, dressed and out the door on time. We got to church just fine.

Now, Landan has been having a really hard time at church lately. lots of tantrums and kicking and crying during church. He was an angel today. Gavin was pretty cranky though. By nursery he was clinging to me. I think he's figured out I don't stay the whole 2 hours and he didn't want to let me out of his grasp so I couldn't get away. Well, I did get away and about 10 min. later I have to go back so I can change his diaper. I got him back settled in nursery and left (he cried for awhile after that) and just got back to Relief Society when all _ _ _ _ (insert whatever word you choose) broke loose.

I heard a child crying hysterically and I thought it might be Landan. I was right. I got called outside to find Landan hysterical standing next to Kevin. Apparently he had found a wire and stuck it in an outlet during his class. His teacher said she heard a big poof and there were sparks and a few flames and then he started screaming. He had electrical burns on both hands with plastic stuck to the burned parts. All I could think was "Oh my gosh his heart". But he was alert and crying so I was pretty sure he was ok but I couldn't remember if you could put water or ice on an electrical burn. And I couldn't remember his doctors phone number to ask either. Luckily there was a lady there who had an iPhone and she looked up the hospital number to ask them. Everyone was rushing around trying to help and Landan was hysterical and I was panicking inside trying not to let him know how scared I was. I quickly got Gavin's babysitter to take care of Gavin who was very confused and upset at this point.

Kevin and I drove Landan to the children's hospital where they checked his heart and cleaned his hands up. He now has bandages on both hands but everything else seems ok. Apparently by the time we left the whole primary had heard and his class was in hysterics so the bishop had to go have a talk with them and let them know Landan was ok. (They had been moved to another classroom).

We were only at the hospital for over 2 hours so we got Gavin on the way home. He must have decided he wasn't getting enough attention because while I was helping Landan get undressed (he's not supposed to use his fingers) Gavin climbed up on Landan's bed and fell off and hit his face on the dresser and started bleeding all over. It wasn't serious but those of you who have kids know that facial injuries just bleed a lot. I'm still in my sunday clothes trying to keep blood off of myself while holding a cloth to Gavin's mouth while he struggles to get free. And Landan's getting upset becuase Gavin is hurt and bleeding. So now I have one child with electrical burns on his hands and one child with a fat lip. (You can't tell from the picture but his upper lip is bigger and his mouth is all red.) What a day!

Who needs hair gel?

Gavin decided that his hair style needed a little sprucing up at dinner today. Being stuck in his high chair and not having access to a bathroom, he decided to be creative and use his dinner to make things more interesting. Who knew walking tacos made such cool hair styles?

PS, this was all Gavin, I didn't do a thing. And yes, he eats naked now because he refuses to let us help him eat and he makes such a mess it's just easier to clean up if he doesn't have clothes on.

Perfect Picture

I just found this on my camera phone and I think it is one of the best pictures I have taken. It's difficult to get a picture of my boys because they don't sit still well. We were at HEB this summer once and in a moment of brotherly love they did this all by themselves so I had to get a picture. I'm going to keep this safe so I can bring it out some day when they want to kill each other.

Random Pics of Gavin

Gavin is such a funny kid. He makes me laugh all day long. He's such a ham, he's always happy, and he's such a loving little boy. Here's some pictures I've taken over the last month.

He got sick just after Christmas. He had a fever of 104 and it turned out to be pneumonia. He got throught it great though. It's the first time I've seen him sit still and watch TV. Usually it's go, go, go.

He's a messy eater so on the night we had sloppy joes for dinner I took his white shirt off. Don't little boys look adorable in overalls?

He absolutely loves his baths. He loves to play in the water.

He loves to play in and out. He will spend hours putting stuff in something and getting it back out and putting new stuff in. His favorite thing is putting himself in boxes. Here he is chillin with his drink.

Cheese!!

I'm comfy Ma. Now push me.

Gavin loves to be naked. He doesn't fuss about clothes but he gets awfully excited when we take them off. I usually call him my little monkey but I've been thinking of changing it to Tarzan Baby. I swear, if he could be outside, swinging around some trees naked all day he'd be the happiest baby in the world.

Trying to take his diaper off (which he's been successful at several times)

Getting into trouble (another favorite pastime)

Being cute.

I Made Something Else

As I said, I've been in this major sewing mood. So I've made a few more things. Landan got a Leapster 2 for Christmas with 2 games. It's a handheld learning game thing from Leapfrog. Anyway, I wanted a safe place to put them while we were in the car on trips and stuff. So I made him a customized bag. I got the idea and some inspiration and tips from the make it and love it blog to the right. Also I got some advice from my mom. Here are the pics.

Here is the Leapster 2 and a game
I started with two pieces of fabric with batting in between

I sewed them together in a couple places and put some bias tape on the top and bottom
Then I cut out strips that were tall enough for the games and as wide as the bag and put bias tape on the tops of both of those. these are going to be my pockets.
Then I sewed the pockets on and sewed dividers so each individual game has a pocket. You can't really tell from the picture but each long pocket is divided into 4 pockets so the bag will hold up to 8

Then I folded the bottom of the bag up and sewed the sides. then I put velcro on the top of the flap and the bag.
Then I made a strap for it and sewed that on. All done!! It's a little crooked because I can't figure out how to sew a straight seam but I'm learning.

Then I bought a pattern to make little Mary Jane type baby booties from the same blogs authors etsy shop. I've made only one pair. They turned out pretty good but they have some flaws. I plan to make a few more until I get it right and then I can make little shoes to match every outfit. I'm so excited.
