What a night!

We have been really busy this last weekend. We had three graduations and two families in town and finals and all kinds of stuff. I will follow later with the details of the weekend. But for now, I'd like to enlighten you all with the night I had last night.
It started out fairly well. Kevin left to drive to Austin yesterday morning. Landan and I got up, played for awhile, and then went to church. Then I had to go to work Sun. night so Mike and Ashlyn graciously agreed to spend the night with Landan at my house. They came to pick him up and went to a friend's house. Work went well although really slowly. All of a sudden I get a phone call at about 11:00 pm. It's Ashlyn telling me that Landan is coughing really badly. Funny thing, before they left with him I told her I had given him all his meds for the night so she didn't have to worry about it. She had asked me what to do if he had an asthma attack which he hasn't had for a year. So I told her how to do his albuterol treatments. Luckily I did because they had given him one and it wasn't working. I told her to do another one and some Robitussin and call me if it wasn't working. Half an hour later it wasn't working and he was now wheezing. This is bad. When Landan is to the wheezing point he's usually pretty bad. So I had them do another treatment and then start his oral steroid which the doctor had been genius enough to send home with me the last time he was in the hospital so that I didn't have to wait for a doctor to start it.
So as this is going on I'm telling everyone around me what's happening and the charge nurse hears about it. she comes and tells me I should probably be home with my son and they could take care of things there. I was so grateful. I get so paranoid when he is having breathing problems and I'm not there. It was hard to tell Mike and Ashlyn what to do because I wasn't there to see what Landan was doing. Although I must commend them. They did an excellent job of taking care of him and I thank them for that.
By now it's about 12:30 am and he's still coughing really hard and he has now thrown up on Mikie, himself, the carpet, and finally in the toilet. Welcome to parenthood Mikie. Isn't it great? So I got home at about 12:45 and did a little assessment of Landan. We finally got him in bed and Mike and Ashlyn stayed there until the morning. I feel so bad because Ashlyn still had to go to work this morning and didn't get much sleep.
He seems to be doing pretty well at the moment. He's still coughing pretty hard and often but he's breathing okay. Meanwhile I'm exhausted but at least I did get a little sleep. Thank you again Mike and Ashlyn for all your help. You are wonderful.

Another client...

I am so good. Let me tell you why. I make a very good sexy-tary ( oops, I mean secretary) and publicity manager for Kevin. I managed to get him another client today. I was talking to my friend at work about the design he is going to draw for her and her husband and there was a pediatrician who was listening in. He asked me if my husband was a landscaper and I told him about being a designer. He asked if Kevin could do his design. He said he'd been trying to get several companies to do it for him and no one would get back to him. I called Kevin and he talked to him today and has an appointment with him tomorrow. At the rate we're going, I may be able to just recruit people for Kevin to design for and not have to work at all. Kevin just barely decided to do freelance design about 2 weeks ago and he already has two clients. Cool, huh? What can I say? I am so good.

Landan is sick...again.

Well, Landan is sick again. He has another ear infection and sinus infection. I"m guessing this earns him some ear tubes for sure. He's been pretty fussy the last three days. It's so sad when he goes to the doctor. It gets worse and worse each time we go. He used to hate it when they listened with the stethoscope. Now he's okay with that but he HATES getting his ears looked at. This time he started crying as soon as we got close to the building. He kept saying "I don't want to go in there, I don't want to go on there." Then when we got in the waiting room he kept saying, "Not Landan turn, Not Landan turn." When his name is called that's when the crying starts. He can usually be appeased by reading a book in the exam room. As soon as the doctor enters, he WAILS. He also holds his ears with an iron grip. It's so sad to watch. He keeps repeating, "All done, All done!" while he's crying. I hate having to traumatize him like this all the time, but you gotta do what you gotta do. Hopefully this surgery will help.

New Hair Cut!

I got a hair cut two days ago. The lady who cut it styled it straight. I mean really straight. It was so cool. She had this straightening iron with ceramic plates and it got my hair the straightest it has ever been in my life. Although my sisters hair is more so, my hair is really thick and really wavy and pretty frizzy. No matter what I put in it, it is NEVER completely straight. It's always very full. And while I'm not so sure I look good with totally straight hair because my face is really long and thin, it was still amazing. I had to take pictures just to catalog this momentous occasion.

On another note, Landan saw the Ear/Nose/Throat doctor today. They decided to take out his adenoids and possibly put in ear tubes. He's going to check out his ears while Landan is under and decide if he needs them or not. But definately taking the adenoids out. He's set for surgery May 3rd. They wanted to do it April 26th but I didn't think it would fit into the graduation schedule. So May 3rd it is. He said it would help him not have a snotty nose all the time and it might help him not have so many ear infections. He also said he was hoping it would help his lungs and asthma if he can drain properly and not have a sinus infection that is draining into his lungs. We have thought this for quite awhile, it was nice having it confirmed by a doctor. I'm also glad we're getting this taken care of before we move and have to explain all of Landan's history to a new pediatrician. That's the one bad thing about moving, A new ped. won't know his history and I like the one he has here. Oh well, I'm sure there are great ones in Austin.

Easter Weekend

We had a great Easter weekend. First, the Easer bunny came and left Landan something.

Mommy look! Candy. The Easer bunny give me candy!

How long does it take Mommy to open an egg. About 5 minutes.

Then we went to the local grocery store to have free french toast with the Easter Bunny. Landan spent the entire time dancing the bunny hop.

Then we went shopping at the outlet mall at Park City. I love those days. We go twice a year, april for their spring sale and summer clothes and August for their back to school sale and winter clothes. It's the best day because the point of going there is to spend money. I love those kind of shopping trips as opposed to the ones where you just go window shopping.
Tonight, we went to a Carnival and Easter Egg Hunt at the baseball stadium. Landan loved it. He loves to run ALL THE TIME! So he loved running around picking up easter eggs. They had an Easter party at daycare the day before so he had the concept down pat. It was great!

It was the best day ever.

Photo shoot...

Landan loves getting his picture taken. As you can see from the background, we were being enlightened by Conference last weekend, and David decided to make Landan do some really cute poses. He was teaching him to be a homey. It was hilarious. He's pretty good.

Baseball

Landan is so funny. He is in LOVE with his baseball and bat. He played with his Uncle Mikie for about an hour on Thur. and then he insisted on playing with me yesterday forever. He loves it. He's not too bad at it if you throw it right to where he swings the bat. He still bats right handed and throws left handed. He actually steps into the swing and the throw. He figured that out himself. It's very cute.
