Friday night I got to go to the best concert I think I've ever been to. My hubby took me to go see the Yanni Voices concert. It was amazing! I have loved Yanni since the first time my Grandparents introduced him to us when I was in middle school I think. I have always loved his music and I finally got to go to a concert and see him live.
The concert was fabulous. He basically took some of his classic songs and had some singers put words to them as well as doing some new songs. The singers were phenomenal. He was very funny and engaging on stage and you could really tell that he loved his music. Just from watching him I get the feeling that it's not about fame for him, it's about sharing the music that he can hear with the rest of the world. Kevin said the best part about it was that he didn't seem selfish. He highlighted all the talented people with him and had them play solos so you could see their talent, not just his.
The entire first half was wonderful. The imagery was beautiful and went right along with the music. The second half was a little bit different. The songs were still great but they took on a decided "Latin twist" as Kevin calls it. There was one singer who did some dancing and it was a bit risque. Picture Dancing with the Stars costumes and movements. But the music was of course still very good. (Can you tell I love Yanni?)
Anyway, that's all for now. More to come after our vacation to Iowa!

Is it a Hurst thing to like Yanni? David loves him too.
Fun! That's neat you got to go. I haven't been to a concert in forever. I haven't heard any of Yanni's newer stuff either.
