Dessert math

I don't mean to brag, but sometimes Landan amazes me. When Kevin picked Landan up from daycare today he turned to his teachers and said, " Have a good weekend." I don't even know where he learned that phrase. Then after dinner, because he had eaten his WHOLE dinner without fussing, he got dessert. We have some Christmas candy we're trying to get rid of so he gets it for incentives. Anyway, I put two pieces of candy in front of him for dessert without saying anything. Here's our conversation:

Landan: " I have two candy."

After he had put one in his mouth, I put one more on the table and said, "with the one in your mouth, now how many do you have?"

Landan:" I have three."

I couldn't believe it. Then I put four on the table and said, " Can you count them?"

Landan: "um...3, 4, 7, 9."

So apparently counting is beyond him, but adding, that's easy.

I want to be like...

Daddy!!

And when he saw these pictures, he said, "I'm cute!" He's so humble.

Skiing!

We had a great day yesterday. Kevin, Jonny, Mikie, Adam (Jonnny's friend) and I went skiing at Brighton Ski Resort. It was great. Because Mikie and Adam were the more "expert" of us all they helped the rest of us learn, Mikie helped Jonny snowboard and Adam helped Kevin and me ski. We started out on the "bunny" hill which was pretty steep for being the learning hill. Unfortunately Kevin lost control and slid into me and my ski hit his hand. He bruised it pretty bad and wasn't able to ski for the rest of the day. The rest of us went down a green hill several times. It was pretty steep for a green hill too. By the end of the day both Jonny and I were starting to get the hang of things. I even went down the whole green hill (which was pretty long) without falling the last time. It was so fun. The only really embarrassing part...seeing a three year old who had better control of himself on his skis than me. I guess I just need more practice.

Sometimes Landan just cracks me up. He does the most random things. In this first picture, Landan informed me he was flying.

After we went grocery shopping tonight after Kevin came home from work, we got Burger King for dinner since it was really late. True to form, Landan took about 3 bites and decided he was done. So he went off and played while we continued our meal and conversation. When I got done, I looked over to see where Landan was because he had been quiet for awhile. All of a sudden I saw this in my living room.He was just standing there, not moving. I took about 10 pictures of this and he kept standing there. It was so random.

Everything is okay.

Well, aside from the fact that I have learned that Landan has now entered the next stage of the terrible two's,(the inconsolable crying for a week stage that makes you want to pull your hair our and sell your son to the circus), everything is getting better around here. Kevin is feeling much better, Landan never really got the stomach flu, it was just a one time thing. I am still healthy (knock on wood). Kevin suggested that we go to the mall today just to get Landan out of the house and into a different atmosphere in the hopes he would calm down. It turned out to be a great suggestion. While he wasn't exactly a perfect angel, he was definately better than he was at home. Only small tantrums, not full blown ones. These I can handle. It was a pretty good day. We found some clothes for Kevin that we hope will help him win a job after the interview he has in Feb. It was nice to find what we wanted and have it be on sale. I just hope tomorrow turns out just as good.

I have been initiated.

Well, I may only have one little boy, but I believe that i have been initiated into the "a Day in the Life of a Mom" club. Landan has been recovering slowly from his ear infection. He's been fussy and nonstop crying for two days. Last night, Kevin started throwing up and having other issues. I had to go to work today but of course, taking care of my big boy, I got to sleep late last night. I woke up late this morning and had to run to get Landan to daycare. After work I picked Landan up from Mike and Ashlyn's house (thank you again for rescuing me). This is a picture of Landan helping me make muffins.

This was right before Landan ate some of those muffins, and promptly threw them up all over himself, the couch, the carpet, and the kitchen floor. Now I have two sick, very cute, but pukey boys. I guess the initiation into Momhood had to happen sometime. At least I only have two....

I'm getting paid back...

Well Mom, I'm getting paid back for all the frustrations I gave you when I threw my royal tantrums. I had to work this weekend and I have to go back to work on Tues. So I have one day with Landan before I have to go back to work. How does he decide to spend the day with me? By throwing the biggest fit he has done since he was about 4 mo. old. He screamed from the time he got up until we had to go to get Daddy, which was about 2 1/2 hours. I mean roll around on the ground, crying, screaming, follow me around the house and throw himself on me tantrum. I just ignored him but as soon as he would stop for a second, I would say something and he'd go right back to it. You would think he would get tired after awhile, but he apparently is the most stubborn 2 yr. old on the planet. Honestly, Mom, I wasn't that bad, was I?
